This Manual was written by the Coast Guard Education Training and Doctrine Command- Leadership and Doctrines Development Center (CGETDC-LDDC) with the intent of using it as a reference material for any person undergoing basic training – Coast Guard Officers’ Course (CGOC) and Coast Guardsman's Course (CGMC) – under the CGETDC. Due diligence has been exercised in properly referencing materials and ideas of authors; possible lapses on referencing, however, limits the use of this Manual strictly as a training material and not for sale and/or distribution to any nonPCG personnel Any personnel who is given a copy of this Manual and is eventually separated from service shall return the copy to the CGETDC, refrain from allowing the Manual to be reproduced or used, or allow the use of the Manual by any person no longer connected or not personnel of the PCG.
